Award-winning Artists John Roush and Gary Ozias
Featured in New Exhibit at SouthWind Gallery
John Roush

John Roush is a Kansas native who now makes his home in Buckner , Missouri . He often travels back to his home state to paint “en plein air” and gather reference photos for his studio paintings. His portfolio of oils and pastels of the Midwest landscape is supplemented with scenes of the Maine coast.

Roush, whose paintings are in private and corporate collections from coast to coast, has been winning increasing national attention and acclaim for his realistic paintings during the past 10 years. He recently was elected to “Master” status in the Pastel Society of America and “Fellow” membership in the American Artists Professional League. He holds memberships in the Oil Painters of America, Audubon Artists and Allied Artists of America. His work has been shown in exhibits throughout the United States, and has been published in feature articles in the Pastel Journal and The Artists magazines.

Gary Ozias
Gary Ozias was born in Kansas City, Missouri , and raised in Massachusetts . He has lived and worked in Downs , Kansas , since graduating from Worcester State College ( Massachusetts ). Ozias’ work has been strongly influenced by his father, Stanley Ozias, who was one of the foremost engravers in the United States . During the past several years Ozias has quickly established himself as a popular regional painter with a long list of awards to his credit. He is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Oil Painters of America , and is a Master Pastelist in the MidAmerica Pastel Society. His work is prized by collectors throughout the country.

SouthWind Gallery, 3074 SW 29th, Topeka, unveils its newest exhibit, Kansas Landscapes, during Topeka’s First Friday Art Walk, March 7, 2008, and opens with a “Meet the Artists” Reception from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The exhibit features the work of award-winning artists, John Roush and Gary Ozias. The exhibit runs March 7, 2008 through April 26, 2008.

John Roush "Bunk House"

The artwork of both Roush and Ozias is rich with evocative color and a specific sense of time and place that engages the viewer in what is reassuringly familiar as well as that which is unknowable in the landscape. This exhibit includes over 50 paintings that celebrate nature and the natural beauty of the Midwest landscape.
